In my last blog, I quoted 1 Peter 5:8 and spoke to the fact that Satan seeks to devour Christians and destroy the things of God. He is on the attack, and he has his sights set on the most vulnerable and impressionable. He seeks to rip the impressionable away from their Biblical Worldview and is always looking for ways to destroy anything Godly in the culture. He is not playing a game; he is waging war. He has his attacks set on us and our children. The sooner we realize that this attack is here and ever-present, the more serious we can be about preparing our children for this battle.
Another example to demonstrate how Satan wages his war on cultural Biblical Worldview principles is in the way he attacks God’s plan for man and woman. God created man and woman (Genesis 1:27) and designed for them to be joined together as husband and wife (Genesis 2:24). In those two verses describing God’s design, how many ways has Satan attacked just those two concepts? Satan wants your children to doubt the God-designed fact of two genders, male and female. Satan wants to destroy every concept of marriage by encouraging lust, homosexuality, pornography, divorce, and this list could go on and on. He doesn’t want our children to see themselves as God sees them, he doesn’t want them to find a person of the opposite sex that will lead them to a relationship that glorifies God. Satan wants our children to destroy their lives with sin and confusion and he desires to lead them on a path that joins him in destruction.
That last sentence may be blunt, but this is the truth. Too often parents and even some churches leave their children’s Biblical Worldview up to chance. It's like they hope that everything will turn out alright. Parents too often skip church, don’t promote Biblical teaching at home, send their children to a worldly school, and then wonder why their children have developed a worldview that is so contrary to the Word of God. Churches too often do not promote sound, serious Biblical teaching and are more focused on activities and parties and then wonder why their young people leave the Church. Our children’s knowledge and application of the Bible is not something we can leave to chance. We must be intentional daily, about teaching them the words of God we must immerse them in it (Deuteronomy 6:6-8). Our children are too valuable to just “hope” they can handle the attacks of the Devil. The only way to counteract the attacks of Satan is to make sure our children know the Truth and can stand firm upon that Truth. Our children can then recognize the lies of Satan, and their path can be directed by the wisdom of God.
2 Timothy 3:16-17, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” The scripture is what allows us to stand strong in the face of the attacks that will come.
